England U21 beat Slovakia in a crunch match in Group A of the European Under-21 Championship.

England drew their first match 0-0 against Sweden, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford saving a penalty last Friday.

Manager Aidy Boothroyd made squad and formational changes to his Young Lions side.

John Swift replaced Jacob Murphy and played on the right of a three behind centre-forward Tammy Abraham.

Abraham played up front alongside Nathan Redmond in the first game but dropped to the left flank here, with Lewis Baker in the middle.

Slovakia beat hosts Poland 2-1 in their first encounter – Pavol Safranko scoring the winner with 12 minutes remaining.
